On October 30, 2024, Liu Tao, Chairman of Sinoway Forest Technology Co., Ltd. , along with Cheng Wei, the company's overseas business director, visited Ms. Odontuya, Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia, in Ulaanbaatar. Both sides conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the 100,000-hectare ecological restoration project surrounding the capital city of Ulaanbaatar and the ecological governance demonstration project in the Gobi region.
During the meeting, Chairman Liu Tao elaborated on Sinoway Forest's experience in advancing ecological restoration and carbon sequestration forestry projects globally, covering projects in multiple countries and regions including Mauritania, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and northwest China, as well as pilot projects for ecological restoration and desertification control planned in Georgia and the outer Gobi region of Mongolia. He expressed that Sinoway Forest is committed to combining advanced ecological restoration technologies with vegetation planting strategies suited to the local environment to tailor a comprehensive governance solution for Mongolia that aligns with its climatic and ecological characteristics, effectively addressing desertification and land degradation issues.
Minister Odontuya expressed high recognition and support for the potential cooperation between the two parties. She pointed out that ecological restoration and desertification control are among the key tasks for Mongolia to achieve sustainable development and address climate change. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia looks forward to collaborating with Sinoway Forest to advance ecological governance and restoration in the areas surrounding Ulaanbaatar and the Gobi region, enhancing regional ecological quality, protecting biodiversity, promoting environmental resilience, and contributing to climate adaptation and ecological conservation.
